LEDRA BAY HOLIDAY APARTMENTS

Ledra Bay apartments are located approx. 10 km east of the town of
Ierapetra Crete, Greece, in the bay of Kakia Skala in Koutsounari. The
apartments are built in traditional Cretan style, they are all one level
and they are spread across a block of land of approximately 5,600
square metres. The buildings are surrounded by Olive, Carob, Palm
and Plane trees.
Ledra Bay offers guests a quiet and safe environment, that is ideal for
family holidays and includes common use facilities such as a laundry,
an outdoor barbeque area, outdoor shower, children’s swings and a
common lounge area.
Each apartment is self-contained and includes a bathroom, a small
kitchen with seating area, fridge, stovetop, coffee machine and
enough utensils to accommodate for all its visitor needs. Each
apartment has its own sun terrace which is covered with grape vines
(and if visiting in August, enough grapes for the whole family to eat!).

Ledra Bay offers the weary traveller a quiet environment to rest and
rejuvenate. Set within a bay, Ledra Bay Apartments are surrounded by
mountains where rare bird species like the Bearded Vulture and the
Golden Eagle make their habitat.
Ledra Bay is a family owned and operated business and was initially
established in 1987. The name Ledra Bay - which means small village
- was given to the property, as the apartments are spread out over the
block of land, just like a small village.
Ledra Bay combines the beauty of the Libyan Sea, located just 100
meters south of the apartments, and the mountains of Agios Ioannis
where some rare shrubs and herbs are found on the rugged terrain.
Agios Ioannis is a village of Lasithi prefecture, in the municipality of
Ierapetra. It lies 17 kilometers north-east of Ierapetra and 9 kilometers
from the sea. In the last 3 decades, the majority of people from Agios
Ioannis have moved to the settlement of Koutsounari, located just
above Long Beach.
The community of Agios Ioannis includes the forest of `Psihro` which
is famous for its springs, platans, pine and other trees.
The water from the springs of Psihro, follows a route across `Milonas
Gorge` and ends to the sea approximately 7 kilometres south, where
the bay of Kakia Skala and Ledra Bay Apartments are located. Other
beaches in the proximity of Kakia Skala include Long Beach and the
beach of Aghia Fotia.
The nearest town of Ierapetra was chosen among 500 South European
destinations by the Quality Coast International Certification Program
of EUCC, as one of the 50 most attractive tourist destinations for
visitors interested in cultural heritage, environment and sustainability.
In 2012 Ierapetra was one of the only three destinations in Greece that
won the Gold Quality Coast award, ranking 2nd among the TOP 100

The nearest airport is Heraklion (Nikos Kazantzakis) International
Airport, located 70 km from Ledra Bay.
